Historically important east-west trade routes connecting south-east Asia with central Asia and eastern Europe passed though Pakistan. As a result of the Afghan Transit Trade Agreement ATTA, Pakistan permits Afghan traders to access India and South-east Asia markets and reciprocally access to Centra Asia and Eastern Europe via Afghanistan.
